Application
Measurement of jib inclination angle of crane trucks
The inclination angle of the jib (boom) of a crane truck can be read by a display and needle attached to the side of the jib. Along with the display is a load indicator, which simultaneously shows the total rated load due to the inclination of the jib.
The jib tilt angle indicator and load indicator are mounted on the side of the jib and cannot be seen from the cabin (operator’s seat). Therefore, the operator must stop work and get out of the cabin to check them, or another operator must check them. By installing our measuring device instead and pulling the measuring device into the cabin, it is possible to check while operating, so the operator does not have to stop operating and can work alone.
Instead, our measuring equipment is installed and pulled into the cabin, allowing one person to operate the crane while checking the angle.
As shown in these two images, when the jib is extended to the maximum extent and the angle is in the direction of tipping the jib toward the horizontal plane, the hauling distance is longer and the total load is smaller than when the jib is retracted and the angle is up, so it is necessary to work reliably checking the jib angle and load indicator. For this reason, it is safer if the operator can work while checking the angle and feed load at hand.
