Application
Automatic Driving Assistance
In the automotive industry, millimeter wave radar is used for vehicle following systems and collision mitigation systems that utilize millimeter distance detection for automatic driving support.
- Millimeter wave radar is currently used to detect the distance to the vehicle in front.
- In the near future, there is a movement to use it for communication between the vehicle and the vehicle ahead, so-called inter-vehicle communication.
- The millimeter-wave radar unit is installed at a precise tilt range of 1.00° or less relative to the horizontal of the driving surface, and measurements are taken to verify the unit’s accuracy.
- A sensor is placed on top of the millimeter wave radar unit to check this tilt. This is used for adjustment when installing a millimeter wave radar unit.
